Mezcal Montelobos Tobala presents a surprising complex aroma, giving you lemon, green pepper and pear in the nose. There is little smoke present. In the flavor, you again have citrus hitting palate, along with light smoke, roasted fig, truffle and macadamia nuts. It is in perfect balance with the alcohol content.

Casa Lumbre produces premium, farm-to-bottle Mexican spirits with unique sensorial qualities that appeal to trade and consumers alike. Ivan Saldaña, one of the founding partners of Casa Lumbre and creator of Mezcal Montelobos and Licor Ancho Reyes, is the mastermind behind this whisky. In his PhD in evolutionary biology, Ivan Saldaña focused on Agave plants. This theoretical background combined with years in the practical experimentation in the creation of top selling spirits have made of him an international reference in the spirits business.

Manufacturing and aging

Montelobos is a handcrafted mezcal made in San Nicolas Huajuapan in Puebla, the youngest state to be able to produce mezcal. It is produced using exclusively agave Tobala, that is cultivated, a rarity in mezcalworld. Master Distiller, Aaron Alva Sanchez, has a long experience with cultivating agaves and has perfected his methods to make the best mezcal possible. They use a 9 and pinewood barrels for fermentation.
